Luckily no tipping in S’pore, you can get into trouble for it in HK

STOMPer greensake saw this disclaimer in a Hong Kong restaurant, warning customers not to tip the service staff, as it could get them in trouble.

He feels this is rather unusual and wanted to share it with STOMPers. The STOMPer is glad that there’s no tipping system in Singapore.

According to the sign, tipping could be seen as bribery, and if there was a police check, the restaurant would not be responsible for any consequences.

Greensake says:

“Saw this in this Chinese restaurant in Hong Kong.

“Personal tipping here can lead you into trouble.”
