The STOMPer said in his email yesterday (Aug 10):
“These pictures were taken at the promenade at Clarke Quay near the Swissotel Merchant Court Hotel.
“The first photo shows this man dressed in red and blue who was so tired that he fell asleep on the walkway near the hotel. He was oblivious to passersby and the noise of passing cars.
“The next photo is of a restaurant which chooses to place its chairs and table not only within its premises but also on the promenade alongside the Singapore River.
“This reduces the width of the promenade and causes obstruction to the flow of human traffic.
“I hope NEA will draw yellow boxes so that restaurants and food outlets will place their tables and chairs within the yellow box and not spill into the walkways and public thoroughfare.
“If nothing is done the promenade will soon become a one-way street.”
