Fortune hunters leave joss sticks at abandoned Jurong graves

STOMPer Indiana Jones saw these mysterious graves in Jurong, with joss sticks left on the tombstones, apparently by fortune hunters asking for lucky numbers.

Said the STOMPer:

“One day while I was trekking through the forest at Track 20, Jurong Road I was amazed to spot some abandoned graves in this deserted part of Jurong.

“A small jungle path led me to this small graveyard with only 3 graves and the place was overgrown with grass and creepers.

“There were some joss sticks on the tombstone, perhaps left behind by some fortune hunters who came here to ask for lucky numbers from the spirit of the dead.

“The epitaph in red Chinese characters was engraved on the tombstone.

“I don’t know if the next of kin is still alive and whether he takes the trouble to visit the graves of his ancestors.”
