What the men at the Johor jetty did is illegal, says a member of the Sea Shepherd Conservation Society, an international organisation.
The society is working with other Malaysian groups to investigate this incident, reported by STOMPer Eric yesterday, of a whale shark killed and hacked into pieces.
In an email dated Aug 24:
“The actions shown in the article are actually a criminal offense by Malaysian law and as part of an international organisation, Sea Shepherd Conservation Society, I am working with some Malaysian groups including Reefcheck who would like to report it.”
STOMP is assisting with the investigations.
