Rubbish chute full for two days, yet no one sent to clear it

STOMPer Dcotta is upset that this rubbish chute at block 540, Jurong West Avenue 1 has not been cleared for two days.

After calling the Town Council’s Emergency number several times, a TC personnel said that someone will be sent to clear the rubbish, yet it has not been done.

Says this STOMPer:

“This is at Jurong West Avenue 1, block 540.

“It has been 2 days and the rubbish chute has not been cleared.

“Keep calling the Emergency number to the Town Council, they said that they will send someone to clear the rubbish, yet it has not been done.”

Workers from waste-removal company treat recycling bin items like rubbish

Workers from waste-removal company treat recycling bin items like rubbish

STOMPer David noticed some workers from a waste-removal company, emptying the recycling bins at Block 10A, Bedok South Avenue 2 and throwing the items together with rubbish that was not meant for recycling.

This STOMPer wonders whether the items in the recycling bins are really being recycled. He says:

“There is an increasing number of residents like myself who make an effort to put the right things in the yellow and blue recycling bins.

“I also noticed the bins are being abused less as garbage bins.
“This morning(May 15) at about 10am, I was walking by Block 10A Bedok South Ave 2, when I saw some workers from a waste-removal company (Veolia) emptying two recycling bins and dumping the items with common trash in the company’s truck.
“I called the number on the recycling bin (www.sulo.com.sg) and a man replied that the bins were for residents who missed the monthly recycling exercise.
“He said that the items which the workers took in the truck would be sorted out at their headquarters.
“Then what is the point of sorting the items into two different bins?

“The recycling company owes us the truth. If the company is not recycling the items, as claimed on the bins, then I will not bother to put the items in there.

“I have a feeling that the Veolia truck was treating the items from the recycling bins as mere trash!”
